The Robotic Surgery Center at Samsung Changwon Hospital introduced the da Vinci SP, the most advanced robotic surgical system currently available that allows surgery through a single incision, for the first time in Busan and Gyeongnam in December last year.
Since then, the center performed the first da Vinci SP surgery in Busan and Gyeongnam in January, and on the 21st, about six months later, reached 100 cases of da Vinci SP robotic surgery.
Among the 100 cases performed this time, gynecological surgeries accounted for the highest proportion at 41%, followed by general surgery at 30%, urology surgery at 22%, and thoracic surgery at 7%.
With the da Vinci SP enabling surgeries in narrower and deeper areas, Samsung Changwon Hospital Robotic Surgery Center has been able to safely perform surgeries requiring difficult access and precise techniques, including various cancers such as prostate cancer, breast cancer, thyroid cancer, as well as uterine fibroids, ovarian cysts, and thoracic tumors.
