Hwasun-gun to Operate 'Village Doctor System' Starting Next Month

[Hwasun=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters, Reporter Kim Ji-woon] Jeonnam Hwasun-gun (Governor Gu Bok-gyu) announced on the 26th that it will operate the "Visiting Village Medical Tour (Village Doctor System)," a pledge of the 8th local government, starting next month.

The "Village Doctor System" is a project pledged by Governor Gu Bok-gyu to care for the health of elderly residents who have difficulty accessing medical services due to mobility or transportation issues, treating them with the same care as their own children.

The county plans to form and operate a village doctor medical team composed of medical personnel such as public health centers, health sub-centers, health clinics, public health doctors, and nurses.

The medical team will provide customized health care services by visiting village halls or senior centers directly to manage residents' health.

The team will assess residents' health status through basic tests such as blood pressure, blood sugar, and cholesterol, and provide various medical services including free medical treatment, health consultations, and health education.

Additionally, they plan to conduct national health screening guidance, cardiovascular and cerebrovascular disease prevention education, and early dementia screening.

Recently, Hwasun-gun Public Health Center held a meeting attended by representatives from the public health center, public health doctors (medical, Korean medicine, dental), health sub-centers, and health clinics.

During the meeting, various opinions were exchanged to promote the Village Doctor System and efficiently operate health projects in the second half of the year.

A representative of Hwasun-gun Public Health Center said, "We will do our best to promote the Visiting Village Doctor System more substantively to alleviate the sense of alienation among medically vulnerable groups and to ensure that residents can enjoy a happy and healthy old age."
