According to the Gangwon Provincial Election Commission on the 25th, Mr. Woo recently submitted his resignation due to personal reasons. After receiving the documents from the Gangneung City Election Commission, the provincial commission decided to dismiss Mr. Woo at the regular committee meeting held on the 26th.
Mr. Woo, the father of the administrative officer at the Presidential Office involved in the 'private recruitment' controversy, was appointed as a member of the Gangneung City Election Commission in September 2020 through an internal selection. He is known to be the CEO of a telecommunications equipment company in Gangneung and has had a long-standing relationship with President Yoon Seok-yeol.
