Opposition: "Private Hiring in Presidential Office Raises Suspicions of Special Relations... Investigation Must Begin"
Mention of report: "Usi's Father's Company Wins 460 Construction Contracts from Gangneung City Hall"
[Asia Economy Reporter Koo Chae-eun] On the 24th, the Democratic Party of Korea stated that "an immediate investigation should be launched" regarding the controversy over the 'private hiring' of Woo, an administrative staff member at the Presidential Office.
Democratic Party spokesperson Cho Oh-seop said in a briefing that "the Woo case, which has erupted due to private hiring and dual job controversies, is rapidly expanding," expressing this stance. He referred to JTBC's report that "Woo's father split his company into two and secured 460 construction contracts over five years from Gangneung City Hall," intensifying the criticism. Spokesperson Cho pointed out, "It is hard to accept how such sweeping contract wins were possible," and added, "We cannot help but suspect a special relationship between Kwon Seong-dong, the acting party leader and floor leader who recommended Woo, and Woo's father, who has been a close friend of the President for 40 years."
He continued, "We hope the investigative authorities will step in and thoroughly uncover the suspicions surrounding Gangneung City."
