Seoul Police to Conduct Intensive Drunk Driving Crackdown During Vacation Season Starting Tomorrow for One Month
[Asia Economy Reporter Seongpil Cho] The Seoul Metropolitan Police Agency announced on the 21st that it will conduct a special crackdown on drunk driving for one month starting from the 22nd, in line with the summer vacation season.
During the daytime, the Seoul police plan to focus their enforcement on places where city vacationers gather, such as Hangang Park and amusement parks. At night, they will intensively crack down on two-wheeled vehicles including shared bicycles and PMs (Personal Mobility devices) without exception in entertainment-dense areas like Itaewon and Hongdae. Additionally, depending on the target and regional characteristics, they will move locations every 20 to 30 minutes to conduct enforcement. Given the recent resurgence of COVID-19, the police intend to use contactless breathalyzers during the crackdown process.
