On the 21st at Gyeongju Hwabaek Convention Center
[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Gwi-yeol] On the 21st, Gyeongbuk Province held the 22nd Gyeongbuk Fisheries Businessmen Conference at the Gyeongju Hwabaek Convention Center, attended by more than 1,500 people including heads of marine and fisheries-related organizations, fisheries business members, and their families.
This event is the largest in the Gyeongbuk fisheries industry, hosted by the Korea Fisheries Businessmen Gyeongbuk Federation, organized by the Gyeongju City Federation, and supported by Gyeongbuk Province.
Through various events and programs, it aims to promote the rights and interests of fishermen and boost the morale of fisheries business operators.
On this day, more than 20 business operators who have worked and dedicated themselves to the development of fisheries and fishing villages were awarded commendations from the governor and mayor.
The province selected 89 new fisheries business operators this year to address the aging problem in fishing villages, attract young manpower to fishing villages, and revitalize the fisheries industry.
Since 1981, a total of 1,868 business operators (1,742 men and 126 women) have played a leading role in fishing villages at production sites in various fisheries fields such as fishing vessel fisheries, aquaculture, and distribution, contributing to the development of fisheries and strengthening fishing competitiveness.
Governor Lee Cheol-woo said, “Fisheries business operators, who are at the forefront of the development of Gyeongbuk marine and fisheries and the vibrant sea of the new 100 years, should take the lead in building happy fishing villages in the 21st century,” adding, “The province will also prepare projects and support measures to enable fishermen to find hope at sea through the construction of fishing villages where money and people gather.”
The Fisheries Businessmen Conference has been held since 1997, bringing together fisheries business operators who lead fishing village reforms to exchange information, seek ways to develop fisheries, and boost the morale of business operators.
