Yeosu-si, Minseon 8th Term Transition Committee Holds Activity Results Report Press Conference
Presented key tasks for people in their 20s and held a Q&A session with journalists
[Yeosu=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Choi Cheol-hoon] The mayoral transition committee (Chairman Seo Wan-seok), which has been preparing the blueprint for the 8th term of Yeosu city administration, held a 'Activity Results Report Press Conference' at 11:10 a.m. on the 19th (Tuesday) in the Hakdong City Hall Situation Room.
At the conference, the transition committee delivered the 'Activity Results Report' to the mayor, announced the activity results and the 20 key tasks, and held a Q&A session with journalists.
The transition committee adopted 158 tasks, including 83 of the 85 campaign promises made by the mayor to citizens during the last local election?excluding the promises of 'discovering new sources for tourism tax and island entry tax and issuing welfare cards' and 'attracting a branch of the National Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art to Yeosu'?and 75 tasks proposed by the committee itself, selecting among them the '20 key tasks.'
The 20 key tasks are ▲ Establishment of a decentralized citizen participation platform ▲ Strengthening support for small and medium enterprises, small business owners, and self-employed ▲ Prompt promotion of 'Expo site public development' to inherit the spirit of the Expo ▲ Successful hosting of the 2026 Yeosu World Islands Expo ▲ Hosting the 33rd UN Climate Change Conference of the Parties (COP 33) ▲ Expansion of youth startup support ▲ Realization of Yeosu Bay Renaissance (Yeoja Bay, Jangsu Bay, Yeosu Sea Bay, Gamak Bay, Gwangyang Bay) ▲ Establishment of Yeosu Culture and Arts Foundation ▲ Construction of Yeosu National Industrial Complex Environmental Safety Platform and establishment of a monitoring center ▲ Operation of a nighttime emergency medical center for infants and toddlers (Moonlight Children's Hospital) ▲ Installation of a public postpartum care center ▲ Establishment of a 24-hour care platform ▲ Early development of Yulchon Industrial Complex and expansion of local industrial complexes ▲ Promotion of Yulchon premium city development ▲ Construction of a transportation axis from Yeomun District to Sijeon-dong, Bonggye-dong, and Yeosu Industrial Complex ▲ Revitalization of Yeoseo and Munsu districts and revision of urban management plans ▲ Promotion of international flights at Yeosu Airport and attraction of coastal cruise homeport ▲ Creation of a Yeosu-tailored future smart farm ▲ Establishment of a Fisheries Promotion Center ▲ Attraction of a support center for fishing vessel construction promotion complex.
The transition committee carefully reviewed 196 citizen proposals, reflecting some of them, and also visited major projects and complaint sites that had been regional issues during the 7th term to identify problems and suggest alternatives.
A representative of the transition committee emphasized, "The transition and advisory committee members worked with a sense of mission and responsibility from June 10 to July 19, for 39 days, making their best efforts to create the blueprint for the 8th term city administration that will make Yeosu a key city on the southern coast and a city where citizens are happy."
The committee official said, "We hope public officials will consider the opinions presented in the report as the will of the citizens and the mayor, and reflect and implement them sincerely through proactive and creative administration."
The transition committee plans to publish the report soon as a white paper.
