Kim Dong-yeon Urges "Innovative Work Promotion"…Emphasizes 'Zero Tolerance' for Corruption
[Asia Economy (Suwon) = Reporter Lee Young-gyu] Kim Dong-yeon, Governor of Gyeonggi-do, urged public officials to pursue innovative work methods. He also expressed a strong stance against tolerating corruption.
On the 18th, at the 'July Provincial Government Open Meeting' attended by all department heads and public institution representatives, Governor Kim said, "The pet theme park will open in August, and we discussed the operation methods with the relevant department," explaining, "It is a place for caring for abandoned animals and pets and creating a healthy pet culture, but I thought that if managed by a government organization, management itself might become the goal."
He continued, "Through discussions with the relevant department, we tentatively concluded to hold a public contest for residents," adding, "I hope we can find more diverse and innovative methods like this. Instead of just following the usual inertia and customs, let's think together about whether there is a better way, and what is the most efficient and sustainable method according to the project purpose."
Governor Kim also emphasized, "Recently, an unfortunate incident occurred in Gyeonggi-do," stating, "While working for the residents, we will not tolerate undesirable acts that public officials should not commit, acts that violate laws or are related to corruption."
He added, "These are very rare cases, and the majority of public officials are working very devotedly," urging, "We must not damage the perception or honor of Gyeonggi-do public officials due to unfortunate incidents. I hope we can work together to prevent lowering the morale of the majority of public officials."
