Free Distribution of 'Koryongi and Kobuki's Millennium Love' KakaoTalk Emoticons
Illustration Created by the National Research Institute of Cultural Heritage to Promote Epigraphs
The Cultural Heritage Administration's National Research Institute of Cultural Heritage will distribute the "Korongi and Kobuki's Thousand-Year Love" KakaoTalk emoticons for free starting from the 19th. These pictorial messages were created to inform the public about epigraphs, which are a treasure trove of humanities and recorded heritage. Epigraphs are inscriptions on stone or metal, and in Korea, most are engraved on tombstones. The institute has modernly reinterpreted the traditional patterns of dragons and turtles carved on these tombstones. You can download them by adding the Cultural Heritage Administration's KakaoTalk channel. The usage period is one month. Currently, the number of confirmed epigraphs in Korea is about 15,000. Since 2020, the institute has been investigating and researching, sharing images, basic information, transcriptions, and interpretations of about 4,000 cases on the Cultural Heritage Research Knowledge Portal website.
