Jeju Fire Department Quickly Conducts Emergency Safety Inspections at Ports and Harbors in the Province
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Hwang Jeongpil] The Jeju Fire Safety Headquarters announced on the 17th that, following consecutive ship fires at Seongsan Port and Hallim Port, they are swiftly conducting emergency safety inspections on all firefighting facilities installed in ports and harbors across the province.
The Jeju Fire Safety Headquarters has formed a joint inspection team* with related organizations from the 8th of this month to the 12th of next month to conduct a full survey of all firefighting facilities and equipment installed at 109 ports and harbors in the province.
Until the 15th, inspections were prioritized at six locations including Jeju Port, and from the 18th of this month to the 12th of next month, inspections will be conducted at the remaining 103 locations.
This joint inspection focuses on the proper maintenance of various safety facilities, checking for any abnormalities in components, and the overall condition of the facilities. Any deficiencies or faults will be immediately reported to the installation agencies for prompt reinforcement·and supplementation.
Park Geun-o, head of the Fire Safety Headquarters, stated, “In response to the recent consecutive ship fires, we will thoroughly manage by promptly inspecting firefighting facilities and equipment at ports and harbors and immediately addressing any deficiencies. We will also ensure thorough preparation to strengthen ship fire response capabilities through regular joint firefighting drills.”
