Presidential Office on Inha University Incident: "We Pray for the Victims' Rest... Will Strengthen Law and Order"
[Asia Economy Reporter Ki-min Lee] The Presidential Office stated on the 17th regarding the incident in which a female student at Inha University was sexually assaulted by a male peer on campus and then fell to her death from a building, "We will strengthen laws and order to ensure that such an incident never happens again."
A senior official from the Presidential Office said at a meeting with reporters at the Yongsan Government Complex in the afternoon, in response to a question about the public outrage over the Inha University rape and death case, "It is truly an unacceptable, tragic, and heartbreaking event."
He continued, "It is indescribably sorrowful and heartbreaking that a young university student who just entered college suffered such a horrific incident," adding, "Not only those working at the Presidential Office but all citizens will feel the same way."
He then said, "We believe it is our duty to establish laws and order to prevent such incidents from recurring," and offered condolences, saying, "We pray for the victim's soul."
