English professional football club Tottenham posted photos of a team dinner held the previous day on social media (SNS) on the 15th. The club wrote, "Son Heung-min took the team to a Korean barbecue restaurant last night."
After a closed training session at Mokdong Main Stadium the day before, the Tottenham squad had dinner at a Korean restaurant in Jangchung-dong. The menu featured Korean beef (Hanwoo), and in the photos, Tottenham players including Son Heung-min, Harry Kane, Eric Dier, Lucas Moura, and new signing Richarlison wore brown aprons. They smiled brightly, seemingly satisfied with the Korean flavors, and especially Son Heung-min smiled broadly as if relieved of worries.
Goalkeeper Hugo Lloris, who attended the beef party, also expressed satisfaction with the Korean taste. At an official press conference held at IFC Yeouido on the 15th, he said, "We enjoyed a galbi party together yesterday. We tasted various dishes. It was a good memory," adding, "I am happy that many fans support and love us. It seems like a good time to recharge between training sessions."
Before Tottenham's visit to Korea, Son Heung-min said, "My Tottenham teammates think I know many delicious restaurants. They pressured me to take them to good places, which worried me," adding, "Since dozens of players are coming, it will be hard to satisfy everyone's taste, but I promised to treat them to a meal once."
Right after the first match of the Team K League and Coupang Play Series on the 13th, he also said, "We are in the process of preparing for the new season, so the schedule is tight," but "I think we can arrange at least one meal together." Ultimately, Son Heung-min kept his promise by treating his teammates to delicious Hanwoo beef that day.
Earlier, in May, Son Heung-min introduced Korean-style beef to his Tottenham teammates. On May 25th, on the YouTube channel "Korean Englishman," Son introduced "how to eat Korean-style barbecue." In the video, he showed his teammates how to grill premium Korean beef cuts like chadolbagi (thinly sliced brisket) and salchisal (flank steak) on a grill, then wrap them with ssamjang (a dipping sauce) in lettuce wraps.
He also said his favorite cut of beef is salchisal and that when eating Korean barbecue, he always dips the meat in ssamjang and wraps it, calling himself a "ssamjang superfan." His teammates who tried Korean barbecue reacted with comments like "It melts in the mouth" and "It tastes great dipped in sesame oil."
