Sangcheol Lee, Gokseong County Governor, Hustles Around Current Project Sites

[Gokseong=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters, Reporter Cha Jong-sun] Lee Sang-cheol, the governor of Gokseong-gun, Jeollanam-do, in the 8th term of the elected government, is busy overseeing ongoing projects despite the heatwave.

Since the 14th and until the 19th, Governor Lee has been conducting a tour inspection of 29 major project sites and facilities by region.

This is an effort to quickly grasp key county administration projects and to carry out the county administration with a sense of urgency in line with the goals of the 8th term elected government.

On the first day, the 14th, he visited major project sites in the Gokseong-eup area, including the Dorimsa Temple tourism revitalization project.

Dorimsa Temple is one of the representative temples of Gokseong-gun, and the valley flowing beside Dorimsa is a popular summer tourist destination for visitors seeking relief from the heat.

Gokseong-gun recently completed the construction of a children's water playground and a valley exploration trail to enhance visitor convenience and satisfaction.

Additionally, there are plans to improve camping facilities and reinforce content by next year.

Governor Lee emphasized the creation of safe facilities so that visitors can enjoy their trips with peace of mind.

He also requested distinctive facilities and content tailored to tourism trends.

He carefully inspected large-scale project sites under construction in the town area, such as Bibileondeok 25, Bandabi Sports Center, and Gokseong Cultural Nuri Library, all scheduled for completion this year.

He stressed the importance of the roles of the currently developing facilities for the Gokseong-eup area to serve as a complex hub and urged for speedy progress.

On the 18th, he plans to visit the new construction site of the Korail Human Resources Development Institute Gokseong Education Center in Songjeong-ri, Ogok-myeon, and major ongoing projects in the Seokgok area.

In the Seokgok area, he will inspect key projects related to the ecological healing-centered hub, a customized pledge for each region in the 8th term elected government.

Gokseong-gun is promoting various tourism cluster projects utilizing the Bosung River waterfront resources, such as the experiential tourism development project around Jukgok Inseongwon, the tourism resource development project around the Daehwanggang suspension bridge, and the linear tourism hub project.

He will also visit the Seokgok-myeon urban regeneration project site to thoroughly check the progress of each project, including resident capacity-building programs, pedestrian path improvement projects, and the Dolsil Eoulim Center.

Additionally, he plans to visit the byproduct resource recycling center to inspect internal facilities and the status of livestock manure compost production.

On the last day of the site inspections, the 19th, visits to project sites in the Okgwa area are planned.

First, he will visit ‘Jewolseom Kkumnolja School,’ a Gokseong-style creative forest education experience center.

Then, he will visit the old market in Ip-myeon, planned as a resident participation cultural space, to explore ways to utilize the market together.

The ongoing project site to be visited is the residential facility project for Gokseong Confucianism participants in Osan-myeon.

Gokseong-gun is expanding the residential facilities for Gokseong Confucianism participants in Osan-myeon to overcome the risk of regional extinction and to revive small schools.

Since last year, 12 residential facilities for Gokseong Confucianism participants have been constructed in Osan-myeon, with plans to add 7 more.

Furthermore, using the local extinction response fund, the plan is to expand the construction of residential facilities to all small schools in the region.

Governor Lee said, “To effectively and swiftly promote pledged and policy projects, I will continue to visit ongoing project sites frequently. Together with residents, public officials, related organizations, and groups, I will do my best to realize ‘a happier Gokseong for its citizens.’”
