Jeongeup-si Promotes 'Fresh Agricultural Products Export Logistics Cost Support Project'
[Jeongeup=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Jaegil] Jeongeup City in Jeonbuk Province is promoting a fresh agricultural products export logistics cost support project to enhance the competitiveness of fresh agricultural products produced in the region and to revitalize exports.
According to the city on the 14th, recently, air and ship freight rates have risen sharply, and due to the prolonged COVID-19 pandemic and continued consumption slump, fresh agricultural product producers (groups) and export companies are experiencing double and triple hardships.
Accordingly, the city will support 10% of the government-notified standard logistics cost unit price by item for the applied items to alleviate the difficulties of fresh agricultural product producers and export companies who bear heavy logistics costs such as packaging and transportation.
The target items of the project are fresh agricultural products and forest products such as fruits, vegetables, flowers, grains, ginseng, and kimchi.
Applicants must be farms or companies exporting agricultural products produced in the region.
Farms and companies with export performance in the second quarter (April to June) of this year can visit the relevant eup/myeon office, dong community center, or the Agriculture and Fisheries Distribution Division by the 18th to apply.
A city official said, "We hope that the logistics cost burden of farms and export companies struggling with rising air and ship freight rates will be alleviated," and added, "Through this, we expect the export route connecting domestic agricultural products and overseas markets to become stronger."
He added, "We also hope that the excellence of local agricultural products will be widely spread in overseas markets, helping to improve the income of local farms and export companies."
Meanwhile, last year, through the export logistics cost support project, the city supported about 70 million KRW in export logistics costs for 404 tons of products including paprika, tomatoes, pears, watermelons, and GABA rice.
