Movie 'Sabaha' to Be Adapted into a Webtoon
[Asia Economy Reporter Seo Mideum] Content platform company RIDI announced on the 13th that it will present director Jang Jae-hyun's film "Sabaha" as a webtoon.
The 2019 film "Sabaha" is a mystery thriller about Pastor Park Woong-jae, who investigates the secrets of a new religious movement and encounters mysterious people and incidents. It was recognized for its artistic quality by winning awards at various film festivals such as the Grand Bell Awards and Blue Dragon Film Awards.
The webtoon adaptation of "Sabaha" focuses on conveying the message of the work by enhancing the mysterious atmosphere of the original through dark tones. It is considered unusual in that it reinterprets a film as a webtoon rather than adapting a web novel.
A RIDI official said, "We are pleased to be able to produce 'Sabaha,' regarded as a masterpiece of Korean-style occult movies, as a RIDI webtoon," adding, "It will be a gift-like work for fans waiting for mystery thrillers and horror stories this summer."
