KCC Evaluates PP Production Capabilities... Reflected in Ministry of Science and ICT Production Support Selection
Announcement of the 2022 Broadcast Content Production Capability Evaluation Basic Plan
[Asia Economy Reporter Cha Min-young] The Korea Communications Commission announced the basic plan for the 2022 Broadcasting Content Production Capability Evaluation on the 13th.
The evaluation targets channels operated by broadcasting channel usage service providers (PP) registered for real-time television broadcasting, which have broadcast for more than 10 months in the previous year.
The evaluation criteria consist of 14 detailed evaluation items across three areas: resource (human and material) competitiveness, process (production and distribution) competitiveness, and performance (economic and social) competitiveness.
The evaluation results are scheduled to be announced in December. Channels rated as "Very Excellent" will be awarded the "Excellent Channel" selection mark.
The evaluation results will be reflected in the selection of broadcasting program production support targets by the Ministry of Science and ICT (MSIT) and will be used to award the "Production Capability Excellence Award" as a special prize in the KCC Broadcasting Awards.
Businesses wishing to participate in the broadcasting content production capability evaluation should submit evaluation materials to the Broadcasting Content Production Capability Evaluation Support Group by August 8.
The KCC plans to newly establish an evaluation plan for public channels among broadcasting channel usage service providers by the end of the year and apply it from next year. This aims to enhance the public interest and public functions of public channels, and the plan will be developed through expert and business operator consultations.
