Gwangju Seo-gu 'Home Medical Care Center Pilot Project' Promotion
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Shin Dong-ho] Seo-gu, Gwangju Metropolitan City (Mayor Kim I-gang) has been promoting the ‘Home Medical Care Center Pilot Project’ since this month, which provides visiting medical and care services linked to elderly people with long-term care needs and mobility difficulties.
Seo-gu announced on the 13th that it secured a total budget of 300 million KRW, including 150 million KRW in national funds, by applying for the Ministry of Health and Welfare’s community integrated care health care specialized program in May for this pilot project.
Last month, through public recruitment and evaluation, one private medical institution was selected to operate the Home Medical Care Center, and a business agreement was signed.
The ‘Home Medical Care Center Project’ provides integrated medical, nursing, and care case management services by a multidisciplinary team (doctors, nurses, etc.) that periodically visits households for those with long-term care grades 1 to 4 who have mobility difficulties and require home medical care. Services include medical examinations (once a month), visiting nursing (twice a month), and linking community resources.
Seo-gu plans to continue discovering eligible individuals in collaboration with the Home Medical Care Center and further activate this service.
Kim I-gang, Mayor of Seo-gu, said, “We expect to establish a unique integrated care model exclusive to Seo-gu through this project,” and added, “We will pay more attention to improving the satisfaction of elderly people who need home medical services due to mobility difficulties and enhancing their quality of life through medical and care home services.”
