Fair Trade Commission conducts on-site investigation of Coupang over suspicion that paid memberships are more expensive
The Fair Trade Commission is investigating Coupang. This follows allegations that the company sells the same products at higher prices to paid members than to regular members.
According to industry sources on the 12th, the Fair Trade Commission sent investigators to Coupang's headquarters in Songpa-gu, Seoul, starting the day before to conduct an on-site investigation.
The Fair Trade Commission is reportedly examining whether Coupang violated the Act on Labeling and Advertising in the process of informing consumers about the benefits of its paid membership service, Wow Membership.
Among consumers, there has been controversy over Coupang selling some products cheaper to regular members than to paid members.
