Yeosu City to Host the '2022 Seomseom Yeosu Corn Festival'

[Yeosu=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Choi Cheol-hoon] Jeonnam Yeosu City (Mayor Jeong Gi-myeong) announced that it will hold the '2022 Seomseom Yeosu Corn Festival' in front of Najin Mulryangjang at Hwayang-myeon Office at 10 a.m. on Saturday the 16th.

Hosted by Yeosu City and organized by the Seomseom Yeosu Corn Local Business Group, this event will take place over two days until 5 p.m. on Sunday the 17th.

Starting with the opening ceremony, various events will be held including ▲Seomseom Yeosu Corn Exhibition Hall ▲Romantic Busking Performances ▲Surprise Singing Contest ▲Corn Husk Peeling Speed Contest ▲Corn Traditional Snack Making ▲Planting Companion Purification Plants ▲Handmade Flower Tea Bag Making, and other diverse experiential activities.

Additionally, a local agricultural specialty product market will operate where visitors can purchase corn along with gat kimchi, mugwort rice cakes, rice, mixed grains, flower syrup, oranda, camellia rice cakes, tofu snacks, pumpkin, potatoes, onions, fruits, and more.

At the food market within the event site, visitors can enjoy steamed corn, corn pancakes, green onion pancakes, seasoned flatfish, Bangpung Makgeolli, corn bread, ice cream, and other delicacies.

Yeosu City plans to form task forces in areas such as traffic, parking, medical services, safety, and cleanliness to ensure smooth event operation and minimize inconvenience to visitors.

A city official said, “The Seomseom Yeosu Corn Festival, which will satisfy all five senses with various programs including corn exhibitions, sales, performances, experiences, events, and food, will be held this weekend. We look forward to active participation from citizens and tourists.”
