Kyobo Life Insurance to Host 'Kyobo Life Cup Dream Tree Sports Festival' Again After 3 Years
[Asia Economy Reporter Changhwan Lee] Kyobo Life Insurance announced on the 11th that the '2022 Kyobo Life Insurance Cup Dream Tree Sports Competition' has entered a month-long fierce competition in Gimcheon and Yeongcheon, Gyeongbuk, and Seoul.
Starting with athletics on the 10th, about 4,000 promising elementary school athletes will compete in seven events including judo, gymnastics, tennis, swimming, ice skating, and table tennis, showcasing the skills they have honed so far.
Kyobo Life Insurance has been holding the Kyobo Life Insurance Cup Dream Tree Sports Competition since 1985 to discover and nurture young sports talents early and to revitalize basic sports disciplines. It is also the only nationwide comprehensive youth sports competition organized by the private sector.
This Dream Tree Sports Competition is being held for the first time in three years due to COVID-19. Since it is a large-scale competition involving elementary school students, Kyobo Life Insurance plans to operate the event with safety as the top priority.
Before the competition began, a preliminary safety inspection was conducted at all venues, and a venue disinfection management manual was created, installed, and distributed.
To continuously monitor the disinfection situation, a disinfection center and temporary isolation rooms were established, and safety management was strengthened by providing individual disinfection supplies and keeping them available at all times. An emergency contact system was also set up, and designated short-distance hospitals were secured in preparation for any unforeseen situations.
It is also noteworthy that the event is being held as an eco-friendly comprehensive sports competition from an ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance) perspective to realize a sustainable future.
All banners used during the competition will be reborn as special products through upcycling. After the event, Kyobo Life Insurance plans to collect about 120 discarded banners and produce over 600 items such as shoe bags and shopping bags, which will then be donated to participating athletes, schools, and traditional markets in the host locations.
In addition, signs for disinfection rules and venue guidance were made from recyclable corrugated cardboard and installed.
During the competition, the 'Kyobo Life Insurance Cup Green Olympics' campaign will also be conducted using waste generated during the event. A Green Olympics venue will be created from waste collected at Kyobo Life Insurance headquarters and competition venues and operated as an interactive booth accessible to everyone. It is expected that students will raise environmental awareness through play experiences and create a space for harmony beyond competitive rankings.
