President Yoon's First Departmental Briefings Next Week... Ministers' 'One-on-One' Reports
Core of 'Practical Report' Seeking Execution Strategy... On Approval Rating Drop, "It's the People's Wish to Work Hard"
[Asia Economy Reporter Bae Kyunghwan] President Yoon Suk-yeol will receive the first work reports from ministers of each ministry since the government’s inauguration starting next week. Instead of having ministers, vice ministers, and bureau chiefs attend and report in large numbers, the ministers will report to the president in a one-on-one meeting.
On the 8th, a presidential office official met with reporters at the Yongsan Presidential Office and said, "The first work reports of the new government will begin next week, and we plan to have the ministers of each ministry report to the president in a one-on-one format." Regarding the reporting style, the official explained, "We focused on changing the style to make the reports more practical," adding, "From each ministry, one additional person such as a vice minister or bureau chief will attend, and from the presidential office, the Chief Secretary and relevant senior secretaries will be present."
The work reports will cover key tasks of each ministry, including national agenda and livelihood measures. Discussions will also be held on public institution innovation, committee reorganization, and regulatory innovation. The official added, "In the midst of a complex crisis, the work reports are being prepared not as a department store-style listing or a vision declaration event with rosy blueprints, but as a time to intensely consider core policies and regulatory innovation of each ministry and to seek concrete execution strategies."
Regarding reporters’ questions about the presidential approval rating falling to the 30% range, the presidential office stated, "There is no change in the point that we are focusing only on the people," and added, "Whether the approval rating rises or falls, we always interpret it as the public’s will for us to work harder and pay close attention." On the cause of the approval rating decline, they said, "There could be various analyses, but we will not discuss it here."
