To Promote Marine Sports... Busan Office of Education Operates Yacht Experience Camp
[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Hwang Du-yeol] The Busan Metropolitan Office of Education will operate a 'Yacht Experience Camp' to promote marine sports for 60 elementary and middle school students from the 9th of this month to September 5th.
The camp was prepared to nurture future talents by popularizing yachting, a distinctive marine sport of Busan.
From June 24 to July 1, applications were accepted from 3rd grade elementary to 1st grade middle school students within Busan city, and interest was so high that 1,651 people applied for the 60 available spots.
The camp will be held 6 times over 3 weeks, with 20 participants per session.
On Mondays, from 3 PM, and on Saturdays, from 10 AM, two-hour sessions will be held at Swimming Bay Yacht Stadium and Gwangalli Marine Sports Center, offering dinghy yacht experiences, underwater adaptation training, marine sports experiences, and cruiser yacht experiences.
Students participating in the camp will also have the opportunity to participate in yacht competitions hosted by the Busan Yacht Association.
The Busan Metropolitan Office of Education designated Haegang Middle School, which has the nation's top yacht team, as the base school for operating the camp.

Nam Su-jeong, Director of School Life Education at the Busan Office of Education, said, "The camp is designed to provide students with opportunities to experience marine sports utilizing the characteristics of the marine city Busan," and added, "We will expand and operate various marine sports programs linked to students' career paths."
