Jeongnamjin Jangheung Saturday Market to Celebrate 17th Anniversary Opening on the 9th
Promotion of a Harmony Festival with Tourists Including Celebration Performances and Prize Draws
[Jangheung=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Jeong Seunghyun] Jeonnam Jangheung-gun's popular program, Jeongnamjin Saturday Market, plans to offer joy to tourists with various events on Saturday, the 9th, marking its 17th anniversary.
This commemorative event was skipped in 2020 and 2021 due to COVID-19 but will be held again after three years following the lifting of social distancing measures.
The event will be conducted in two parts: Part 1 includes a pre-ceremony performance and awards for meritorious persons, and Part 2 features a congratulatory performance by invited singers, a raffle, face painting, and doll making, creating a harmonious festival with tourists.
Jeongnamjin Jangheung Saturday Market opened on July 2, 2005, when the five-day workweek system began, as the nation’s first cultural tourism Saturday market linking local specialties and tourist resources.
Since then, it has maintained its reputation by being selected as the "Most Successful Traditional Market Nationwide" in 2015, "Star of Korean Tourism" in 2016, and included in the "Top 100 Korean Tourism" list.
Until recently, efforts have been made to improve the environment through continuous facility modernization projects.
