Samsung Increases Use of 'Eco-Friendly' Materials for Smart Device Component Shipping Packaging
"Efforts to Enhance Customer Satisfaction and Eco-Friendly Values"
[Asia Economy Reporter Cha Min-young] Samsung Electronics announced on the 6th that it will increase the proportion of eco-friendly materials in packaging used for shipping smart device components.
Since last month, Samsung Electronics has replaced boxes and tapes used to send service materials from production plants to domestic service centers with eco-friendly materials, and starting today, it will use paper cushioning materials and eco-certified zipper bags.
Samsung Electronics plans to introduce eco-friendly packaging materials to all service centers by next month. Through this, Samsung Electronics expects to achieve an annual carbon emission reduction effect of approximately 326 tons.
Additionally, Samsung Electronics will replace the shipping boxes for products repaired at overseas service centers with eco-friendly materials. The shipping boxes made from eco-friendly materials are designed with an 'upcycling design' so they can be repurposed for other uses.
In particular, Samsung Electronics plans to provide videos showing how to easily assemble the shipping boxes into mobile device stands. Users just need to scan the QR code inside the box.
Earlier, since last month, Samsung Electronics has been operating a 'paper-free' system that issues receipts, statements, and other printed paper documents in electronic form at service centers in 180 countries worldwide.
