Jangseong-gun Operates Monkeypox Prevention Task Force
[Jangseong=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters, Reporter Jo Hangyu] Jangseong-gun, Jeollanam-do, is operating a quarantine task force to block community transmission and respond swiftly following the occurrence of the country's first confirmed case of monkeypox.
According to the county on the 5th, the Jangseong-gun Public Health Center has formed a quarantine task force composed of doctors, nurses, and others to respond promptly in case of confirmed cases, as the infectious disease crisis level was recently raised from 'interest' to 'caution.'
The quarantine task force will carry out roles such as patient epidemiological investigation, medical support and contact management, and support for supplies and preventive activities.
Monkeypox is an acute febrile rash disease caused by a viral infection, with an incubation period of 5 to 21 days, during which symptoms such as vesicular rash, fever, and muscle pain occur.
To prevent infection, it is advised to refrain from visiting countries where monkeypox has occurred, and above all, it is important to follow personal hygiene rules such as wearing masks and washing hands.
A health center official said, "If you have suspicious symptoms, please report promptly to the health center or the Korea Disease Control and Prevention Agency call center," adding, "Especially medical institutions are requested to report suspected monkeypox patients to the local health center within 24 hours."
