The university announced that on the 4th, a dedication service and unveiling ceremony were held at "Chukbok-ui Dongsan" on campus. The Blessing Hill was created on approximately 8,700㎡ near the chapel (university church), and 12 sculptures themed around the life and ministry of Jesus were installed there.
Each sculpture includes an explanation of the work along with Bible verses, making it easy for even non-Christians to understand the meaning of the sculptures. The sculptures were created by Professor Lee Chang-su, head of the Department of Formative Content, College of Art and Design at Mokwon University.
The university emphasizes that it preserved as many existing trees as possible to create walking paths and planted 7,200 plants including mountain azaleas, rhododendrons, and sunflowers, making Blessing Hill resemble an arboretum.
Additionally, to allow visitors to use Blessing Hill at night, security and lighting fixtures were installed along the walking paths and sculptures, and sound equipment was set up so that classical music and gospel songs can be heard in the park.
Blessing Hill was created following a proposal by President Kwon Hyuk-dae in 2018 at the Theological College Alumni Association Sports Festival to build a missionary sculpture park to realize the founding philosophy. Fundraising was resolved, with 120 individuals and organizations including churches participating.
