Gwangju Chamber of Commerce Offers Bonus Points for Obtaining Computer Proficiency Certification
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Park Jin-hyung] The Gwangju Chamber of Commerce and Industry announced on the 29th that it has launched promotional activities to encourage the preference for holders of national technical qualifications by visiting local public enterprises, affiliated institutions, and universities in the Gwangju and Jeonnam regions.
Obtaining a Computer Utilization Ability certificate grants preferential treatment and additional points when applying for office positions at over 100 public enterprises and public institutions such as Korea Electric Power Corporation and Incheon International Airport Corporation, as well as general companies. Some universities also offer various support measures to increase employment rates, including scholarships and academic credit.
Accordingly, some public enterprises have praised the high practical applicability of computer utilization skills and emphasized that they provide benefits such as preferential treatment during job interviews, reflection in employee performance evaluations, and incentives.
A representative from the Gwangju Chamber of Commerce stated, “The Computer Utilization Ability certificate has a significant advantage in increasing work efficiency by using essential office programs such as spreadsheets and databases,” adding, “If local public enterprises and public institutions give preference to certificate holders when hiring new employees or managing current staff, employment opportunities for certificate holders will greatly expand, and ultimately, the employment rate in our region is expected to improve.”
In addition to the Computer Utilization Ability Test (Levels 1 and 2), the Gwangju Chamber of Commerce administers 13 qualification exams including Word Processor (single level), Computerized Accounting Operator (Levels 1, 2, and 3), Distribution Manager (Levels 1, 2, and 3), Trade English (Levels 1, 2, and 3), Secretary (Levels 1, 2, and 3), FLEX, Hanja, and K-TEST.
