Naju City to Accept Applications for 'Forestry Direct Payment' Starting Next Month
[Naju=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters, Reporter Kim Yukbong] Naju City, Jeollanam-do announced on the 29th that it will accept applications for the 'Forestry and Forest Public Direct Payment' (hereinafter referred to as Forestry Direct Payment) for one month starting next month.
The Forestry Direct Payment, implemented for the first time this year, is a system to promote the public functions of forestry and forests and to secure the income of forestry workers. It provides direct payments annually to qualified forestry workers as defined by the 'Forestry and Forest Public Direct Payment Act.'
The payment targets are forestry workers and agricultural corporations who complete forestry management registration by the end of this month and are actually managing forestry in mountainous areas.
The direct payments are divided and paid differently into forest product production direct payments (small-scale forestry direct payments and area direct payments) and afforestation direct payments.
Even if the qualification requirements are met, if obligations such as maintaining the shape and function of the mountainous area and compliance with prohibitions on pesticide and manure discharge are not observed, the direct payment will be reduced or not paid.
In particular, if the small-scale farm direct payment among the basic agricultural public direct payments is received, the recipient will be excluded from the forest product production direct payment target of the forestry direct payment the following year, so careful consideration is required when applying for agricultural direct payments.
Applications can be submitted by visiting the administrative welfare centers in the towns, townships, or neighborhoods where the mountainous area is located with the registration application form and related documents.
A city official said, "We hope forestry management registration will be completed to receive the benefits of the forestry direct payment," and added, "We will do our best to promote and prepare for the direct payment so that local forestry workers can secure income and have their public value respected."
For more details, check the city hall website or the forestry management business support portal site 'Forestry-in' project implementation guidelines, or inquire through the Korea Forest Service Forestry Direct Payment Emergency Response Team representative number from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. on weekdays.
