Securing 100 Million Won in National Funding
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Yoon Jamin] Dong-gu, Gwangju Metropolitan City (Mayor Im Taek) announced on the 24th that the "Dong-gu Regional Small Business Owners and Self-Employed Hope Loan Support Project" was selected as the best in the Ministry of the Interior and Safety's public contest for "Small Financial Support for Low-Credit Small Business Owners and Self-Employed."
With this, Dong-gu secured 100 million KRW in national funds.
The selected "Dong-gu Regional Small Business Owners and Self-Employed Hope Loan Support Project" was prepared to promote management stability and strengthen self-sustainability through effective financial support for small business owners, low-credit self-employed, and local residents in the region.
With this selection, Dong-gu plans to support 5% of the interest burden for one year when low-credit small business owners and residents in the district take out loans from financial institutions partnered with Dong-gu Office.
In addition, the "Dong-gu Small Business Owners Special Guarantee and Interest Subsidy Support Project" for stabilizing the management of small business owners suffering severe difficulties due to the prolonged COVID-19 pandemic will be expanded from next month through additional agreements.
Mayor Im Taek of Dong-gu said, "Since Dong-gu, which has no industrial complexes, relies on a neighborhood economy centered on small business owners and self-employed, their economic stability is of utmost importance," and added, "We will continue to prepare support measures that help activate management and promote independence of small business owners and self-employed."

Meanwhile, last year, Dong-gu promoted the "2021 Unsecured Low-Credit Small Business Owner Loan Interest Subsidy" project, which was highly evaluated for fully embracing financially marginalized groups who had to use secondary financial institutions due to high bank thresholds, and was selected by the Ministry of the Interior and Safety as a domestic best case and top local government, securing a special grant of 400 million KRW.
