Ambassador Jeong Jae-ho Receives Agr?ment, to Assume Post Soon
[Asia Economy Reporter Yoo In-ho] It was reported on the 24th that Jeong Jae-ho, the nominee for ambassador to China, recently received agrement (prior consent for diplomatic envoys) from the Chinese government.
The Presidential Office officially announced Jeong's nomination as ambassador to China on the 7th of this month. Considering that the agrement is usually requested around the same time as the nomination announcement, it took about two weeks.
Jeong is expected to be assigned to China soon. To begin activities locally, he is anticipated to undergo a quarantine period according to the Chinese government's epidemic prevention system.
Jeong, a former professor of political science and diplomacy at Seoul National University, is an expert on Chinese political economy who has studied US-China relations. On the 20th, he attended a commemorative ceremony for the publication of a pictorial marking the 30th anniversary of Korea-China diplomatic relations, hosted by the 21C Korea-China Exchange Association in Seoul. Regarding the 30th anniversary of diplomatic ties, he stated, “Over the next 30 years, we must expand communication channels between the two countries based on mutual respect, reciprocity, and cooperation.”
