Dongmyung University Department of Nursing and Department of Social Welfare Selected as Leading University for Dementia Overcoming

The plaque ceremony was attended by Kim Nam-sook, Dean of the College of Health and Welfare Education, Kim Mi-ok, Head of the Department of Nursing, Professor Kim Young-hee, Song Na-kyung, Head of the Department of Social Welfare, Heo Mok, Director of Nam-gu Public Health Center, Jang In-jae, Team Leader of Nam-gu Dementia Relief Center, Officer Park Sun-young, and Social Worker Jeong Seon-gyeong.
The Dementia Overcoming Leading University is a Ministry of Health and Welfare project that encourages local community educational institutions to participate in dementia prevention and awareness improvement.
Following the designation as a Dementia Overcoming Leading University, Dongmyeong University’s Departments of Nursing and Social Welfare have linked related major courses to provide students with education on dementia.
They also plan to actively participate in dementia prevention activities and volunteer work for elderly dementia patients targeting local residents.

Kim Nam-sook, Dean of the College of Health and Welfare Education, said, “Through cooperation with Nam-gu Public Health Center and the Dementia Relief Center, we will guide students to participate in dementia-related volunteer and prevention projects to help create a dementia-friendly environment,” and added, “We hope to establish a continuous cooperative relationship between Dongmyeong University’s Departments of Nursing and Social Welfare and Nam-gu Public Health Center.”
