A Middle School Girl Enduring Years of Domestic Violence... Reports Parents to Police Herself
Claims of Continuous Domestic Violence Since Elementary School
[Asia Economy Reporter Yoo Byung-don] A middle school student who had been continuously abused for years directly reported her parents to the police.
On the 22nd, the Yeongdeungpo Police Station in Seoul announced that they received a report that middle school student A had been habitually abused by her parents and plan to begin an investigation soon.
During the police investigation, it was revealed that A testified she had been continuously subjected to domestic violence by her father since elementary school.
She also claimed that her younger brother, who is in elementary school, was similarly abused.
Despite the ongoing violence from their father towards her and her brother, and their mother’s neglect, the abuse by the parents continued for years, prompting A to inform her school.
Recognizing the seriousness of the situation, the school reported it to the police with A’s consent the previous afternoon. Abuse Prevention Officers (APO) from the Yeongdeungpo Police Station visited the school and conducted face-to-face interviews.
