Alleviating Financial Burden for Low-Income Households... Busan City Provides Temporary Emergency Living Support Fund
[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Hwang Du-yeol] Busan City will provide the ‘Temporary Emergency Living Support Fund for Low-Income Households’ starting from the 24th to alleviate the livelihood burden of low-income groups due to rapid inflation and to increase their consumption capacity.
The recipients are households eligible for benefits as of May 29, the date the National Assembly approved the government’s 2nd supplementary budget, including ▲basic livelihood security recipients of livelihood, medical, housing, and education benefits ▲legally designated near-poor groups ▲single-parent families receiving child-rearing expenses.
It is estimated that a total of 209,447 households in the Busan area will be eligible, and the support fund will be fully funded by the national government.
The payment period is from the 24th to August 1, and recipients or household members can receive the fund by visiting their local eup/myeon/dong community service center in person with an ID card, without a separate application.
To prevent confusion during the initial payment period, a day-of-the-week system based on the last digit of the head of household’s birth year will be applied from the 24th to the 30th.
According to the day-of-the-week system based on the last digit of the birth year, on the 24th, recipients whose birth years end in 0 or 5 can receive the fund; on the 27th, those ending in 1 or 6; on the 28th, those ending in 2 or 7; on the 29th, those ending in 3 or 8; and on the 30th, those ending in 4 or 9.
The support amount will be differentiated and paid once, ranging from a minimum of 300,000 KRW to a maximum of 1,450,000 KRW, depending on the benefit qualification such as ▲livelihood and medical eligibility ▲housing, education, near-poor, and single-parent eligibility, and the maximum number of household members.
For households with seven or more members, the amount will be the same as that for a household of seven members, which is the maximum standard.
To ensure prompt support, the fund will be provided via prepaid cards, and the usage period for the support fund is until December 31 of this year.
The support fund can only be used within the Busan area, and considering the purpose of alleviating livelihood burdens, usage is restricted in certain industries such as entertainment, leisure, and gambling establishments.
