Which Team Won the Top Prize in Gwangju Nam-gu's 'First Half 100-Year-Old Singing Contest'?
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Park Jin-hyung] Nam-gu, Gwangju Metropolitan City, is hosting the final stage of the "First Half 100-Year-Old Singing Contest," where teams showcase their singing skills, to support leisure activities for local residents in the post-COVID-19 era.
According to Nam-gu on the 21st, while last year's highly popular "Silver Singing Contest" was a stage for individual talent competition, this year's "100-Year-Old Singing Contest" is a team competition where the combined age of all team members, including participants aged 60 and over, totals at least 100 years.
The reason for changing the singing contest format is to encourage participation from family members or acquaintances, promoting family harmony and the spread of filial piety culture, and to create a community that lives together by narrowing generational perception gaps through participation in play culture across various generations.
Additionally, many participants from last year's contest requested consideration for team participation to relieve the tension caused by individual competition.
The final stage of the First Half 100-Year-Old Singing Contest will be held on the 22nd at 2 p.m. in the large conference room on the 8th floor of Nam-gu Office.
Eleven teams advanced to the first half finals, and the teams on stage are those that demonstrated the best singing skills and teamwork during the preliminary rounds held once a week for 11 weeks starting March 16.
A total of 56 teams participated in the first half contest, with the oldest team identified as the "Daeju 2nd Team" from Jinwol-dong, composed of three senior center members with a combined age of 227 years.
The youngest team is the "Harmony Team" from Wolsan-dong, with a combined age of 129 years. Additionally, the "Joseon Wangjo Lee Clan Team" from Daechon-dong, consisting of a grandfather, daughter, and two granddaughters, is the only four-member group to advance to the finals.
