Despite Labor Opposition to 'Busan Relocation'... Kang Seok-hoon, KDB Chairman, Holds First Day and Inauguration Ceremony
"Attending Work Based on the Judgment That Fulfilling Responsibilities Is Important Considering Domestic and International Economic Conditions"
[Asia Economy Reporter Yoo Je-hoon] Kang Seok-hoon, Chairman of KDB Industrial Bank, held an inauguration ceremony on the 21st and officially began his duties. This comes amid the labor union's ongoing protest to block his commute, demanding the withdrawal of the headquarters relocation to Busan, a campaign promise of President Yoon Seok-yeol.
KDB Industrial Bank announced that Chairman Kang made his first commute to the headquarters located in Yeouido, Yeongdeungpo-gu, Seoul, held the inauguration ceremony, and officially started his work. It has been two weeks since Kang was appointed on the 7th. Due to the union's protest blocking his commute, Kang had been operating from a temporary office somewhere in Yeouido while carrying out internal and external schedules.
Kang stated, "Two weeks after being appointed as chairman of KDB, considering the severe domestic and international economic situation and the numerous pending issues, I judged that it is important to fulfill my responsibilities as chairman for the sake of our economy, KDB Industrial Bank, and its members, and thus I came to work."
In his inaugural address, Kang emphasized that overcoming the challenges facing our economy and moving forward on the path of leapfrogging requires a different paradigm from before. He called for ▲ a stepping stone for innovative growth ▲ Korea's representative think tank for economic security response ▲ a global KDB expanding worldwide ▲ a leading institution in green, digital, and bio transformation ▲ and a role as a market stabilizer.
Additionally, in a message sent separately to employees, Kang made clear his intention to form a 'Communication Committee' involving both labor and management to listen to employees' opinions and engage in dialogue regarding pending issues such as the headquarters relocation, and to actively communicate the voices of members gathered there to the outside.
