Viettel is a state-owned enterprise holding about 50% market share in Vietnam. It is engaged in building ultra-high-speed communication networks in Vietnam as well as in Southeast Asia and Africa.
Since 2015, LSCV has newly established optical cable facilities to prepare for the surge in demand across Asia. Based on the technological capabilities of its Korean headquarters, it has secured technological competitiveness in multi-core optical cables and outdoor optical cables, supplying them to Vietnam, Southeast Asia, and South America. Baek Injae, CEO of LS Cable Asia, said, "This contract is significant in that we expanded our customer base from small-scale internet service providers to large telecommunications operators," adding, "We are also preparing contracts with other major telecommunications operators in Vietnam."
In Vietnam, the ultra-high-speed communication network construction projects, which had slowed due to the COVID-19 pandemic, have resumed, and the construction of internet data centers (IDCs) is increasing, leading to a surge in demand for communication cables. The company stated, "With increased domestic demand in Vietnam and exports to the U.S., our communication cable facilities are operating at full capacity," and added, "We are expanding our business through facility expansion while also seeking ways to improve profitability by enhancing the product mix."
LS Cable Asia previously announced plans to expand facilities earlier this month due to a sharp increase in exports of another communication product of LSCV, LAN cables (UTP), to the U.S.
