Jeonnam Province Extends 50% Discount on Agricultural Machinery Rental Fees Until Year-End
[Muan=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters, Reporter Yoon Jamin] Jeonnam Province announced on the 20th that it will extend the 50% discount benefit on agricultural machinery rental fees until the end of the year.
This initiative was promoted to alleviate the economic burden on farmers facing difficulties due to rising fuel costs caused by COVID-19 and the Russia-Ukraine situation.
Since Jeonnam began reducing agricultural machinery rental fees in April 2020, the cumulative amount of rental fee reductions has reached 6.2 billion KRW as of April this year. It has been praised for helping ease the economic difficulties of farming households.
The rental fee discount benefit applies to all agricultural machinery rental centers (69 locations) within Jeonnam Province.
By model, the rental fee for agricultural excavators has been lowered from 120,000 KRW to 60,000 KRW, tractors (based on 35 horsepower) from 80,000 KRW to 40,000 KRW, and cultivators from 15,000 KRW to 7,500 KRW, allowing use at affordable costs.
Farmers wishing to rent agricultural machinery can visit the nearest agricultural machinery rental center to apply.
Jung Wonjin, Director of the Food and Horticulture Division of Jeonnam Province, said, “We extended the discount benefit until the end of the year to resolve labor shortages and management burdens for farmers facing prolonged difficulties such as COVID-19. We hope farmers actively utilize agricultural machinery by renting it at low costs.”
