KOSPI and KOSDAQ Fall by Over 1%... Rise at Start Then Turn Down Early in Session
[Asia Economy Reporter Kwon Jae-hee] On the 20th, both the KOSPI and KOSDAQ indices started higher but turned lower early in the session, widening their losses. The KOSPI index showed significant volatility from the start, at one point falling over 1% during the session.
On this day, the KOSPI index opened at 2449.89, up 0.37% (8.96 points) from the previous trading day. However, it soon turned downward and as of 9:21 AM, it was trading at 2410.42, down 1.25% (30.51 points).
Among the top 10 stocks by market capitalization, only Hyundai Motor showed no change, while the rest were all declining. Samsung Electronics (-1.84%), LG Energy Solution (-2.70%), SK Hynix (-1.97%), Samsung Biologics (-2.28%), Samsung Electronics Preferred (-2.17%), LG Chem (-0.17%), NAVER (-1.47%), Samsung SDI (-0.18%), and Kakao (-2.49%) were all down.
At the same time, the KOSDAQ index was trading at 789.76, down 1.12% (8.93 points) from the previous trading day. The KOSDAQ index opened at 804.48, up 0.72% (5.79 points), but fell below the 800 mark early in the session.

Among the top 10 KOSDAQ stocks by market capitalization, battery-related stocks such as EcoPro BM (1.69%), L&F (0.95%), and Cheonbo (0.08%), as well as Alteogen (4.06%), were showing gains. On the other hand, Kakao Games (-0.18%), HLB (-0.89%), Pearl Abyss (-2.52%), Celltrion Pharm (-0.13%), and Wemade (-0.29%) were declining.
