Heal Your Body and Mind Tired from COVID-19! ... Busan City Operates Various Healing Programs
[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Hwang Du-yeol] Busan City is operating various citizen healing programs to comfort the minds and bodies of citizens exhausted by COVID-19 and to support a full recovery to normal daily life.
According to the National Mental Health Survey announced on the 3rd, the risk group for depression and the rate of suicidal thoughts were higher compared to before COVID-19.
It has been found that, above all, there is a need to quickly heal 'COVID depression' for citizens to return to their peaceful daily lives as before.
As shown in the survey results, due to prolonged social distancing and activity restrictions, it is necessary to comfort citizens who are mentally and physically exhausted and support their rapid recovery to daily life. The city is also promoting various citizen healing programs.
The healing programs include ▲ the ‘Youth Mental Health Voucher’ project, which provides psychological counseling services for young people and is currently accepting applications at local town, township, and neighborhood community centers.
▲ The ‘Marine Healing Program’ offers Nordic walking, singing bowl meditation, and yoga at seven Busan city beaches, Suyeong River, and Ami Park.
▲ The Busan Parents Association for the Disabled and Haeundae-gu Disabled Welfare Center are operating a travel expense support program for the rest of people with developmental disabilities and their families.
▲ The Busan Disabled Welfare Center Association has been implementing a disabled tourism and cultural experience program for theater, culture, performance outings, and artistic activities since May.
▲ From the end of July, the Metropolitan Mental Health Welfare Center website will release the ‘Mental Friends Dongbaek-e Web Program,’ providing streaming services on mental health information and breathing techniques. Exhibitions and performances for citizen healing are also being operated or planned.
▲ Since May and until October, the Busan Museum’s special exhibition hall is hosting the special exhibition ‘Healing Time: Meeting Buddha.’
Planned programs include ▲ a special invited performance by the Busan Municipal Gugak Orchestra for medical staff who have worked hard in response to COVID-19, to be held on July 7 at the Busan Cultural Center Grand Theater.
▲ On the 11th at 1 p.m., a special lecture titled ‘A Better Daily Life than Before - Healthy with Residents in the Village’ will be held at Busan City Hall with Chairman Choi Jae-cheon of the Daily Life Recovery Committee.
