[Asia Economy Reporter Moon Chaeseok] Hanwha Aerospace's aircraft delivery capabilities have been recognized by Rolls-Royce, the world's leading company.
Hanwha Aerospace announced on the 20th that it received the 'Trusted High-Performance Supplier of the Year Award' last month from Rolls-Royce, one of the world's top three aircraft engine manufacturers. According to Hanwha Aerospace, this award is given only to companies among Rolls-Royce's global partners that have achieved the highest level of reliability and on-time delivery performance in a given year. Hanwha Aerospace explained, "Last year, we successfully completed the new development and initial delivery of key components for Rolls-Royce's advanced Trent engine," adding, "In addition, perfectly supplying case-type parts that require strict quality and delivery compliance was also a key factor." Trent is Rolls-Royce's state-of-the-art commercial aircraft engine series.
Sebastian Resch, Vice President of Rolls-Royce Civil Aerospace Business, said, "We are pleased that the close cooperation between the two companies' civil aerospace turbine divisions has borne fruit," and congratulated, "Considering Hanwha Aerospace's achievements in developing and delivering highly complex engine parts, they are fully qualified for this award." Warwick Matthew, Vice President of Rolls-Royce Civil Aerospace Purchasing, also evaluated, "Hanwha Aerospace belongs to the top partner group that consistently demonstrates high performance in quality and delivery."
Nam Hyungwook, Executive Director of Hanwha Aerospace Changwon Plant, who attended the award ceremony, emphasized, "(This award) is another achievement following receiving the 'Best Supplier Award' from Rolls-Royce in 2018, obtaining the world's first Production Part Approval Process (PPAP) self-approval authority in 2020, and being selected for the HPSG (High-Performance Supplier Group) for three consecutive years from 2019 to last year." He continued, "It is recognition of differentiated competitiveness from Rolls-Royce, known for the highest level of quality and strict delivery management in the global aerospace market," stressing, "This is the result of Hanwha Aerospace possessing industry-leading quality systems and excellent personnel, as well as the dedicated efforts of all employees to provide perfect customer support." Hanwha Aerospace's acquisition of PPAP self-approval authority means that Rolls-Royce has delegated the right to autonomously verify and approve the quality of newly developed aircraft engine parts before mass production supply.
Hanwha Aerospace has steadily expanded its business collaboration with Rolls-Royce for 38 years since 1984, starting with military engine maintenance and overhaul. They have strengthened their partnership by manufacturing cases and modules installed in various engines, including the Trent series.

Hanwha Aerospace is also collaborating with Pratt & Whitney (P&W) and General Electric (GE), which, along with Rolls-Royce, are considered the world's top three aircraft engine companies. In 2015, Hanwha Aerospace signed a contract for the international joint development project (RSP) of the latest aircraft engine, the GTF engine, with P&W. While strengthening cooperation with the world's top three engine manufacturers, Hanwha Aerospace is solidifying its position as a 'top-tier' company in the global aircraft engine market through continuous investment.
