View original image[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Gwi-yeol] The East Sea Rim Industrial Research Institute Yeongdeok Lohas Seafood Support Center announced that it has been selected for the third year of the "City/County/District Regional Industry Promotion Project" promoted by the Ministry of SMEs and Startups.
Being selected for this project for three consecutive years has given momentum to fostering the high value-added new industry of Yeongdeok herring.
The "Regional Industry Promotion Project" aims to revitalize the local economy based on specialized industries and resources within the region, with an annual national subsidy of 500 million KRW and local government funding of 150 million KRW. The third-year project secured an additional 10 million KRW in project funds due to excellent evaluation in the annual assessment.
As the institution in charge of the Regional Industry Promotion Project, the Yeongdeok Lohas Seafood Support Center has been promoting corporate support projects since 2020 to develop Yeongdeok herring, a local specialty of Yeongdeok-gun, into a high value-added new industry, aiming to increase sales and create jobs to revitalize the local economy.
In the second-year project last year, support was provided to 10 companies (29 cases) through customized package programs for promising companies, prototype production, and design improvements, resulting in domestic sales of 3 billion KRW, exports of 1 billion KRW, and the creation of 20 jobs.
