Kim Ikang, Mayor-elect of Gwangju Seo-gu, Inspects Apartment Construction Site Ahead of Move-in
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Dongho Shin sdhs6751] Kim Ikang, the mayor-elect of Seo-gu District Office in Gwangju Metropolitan City, and the transition committee visited an apartment construction site nearing occupancy and held a meeting with prospective residents.
The apartment, with about 2,000 households preparing to move in, recently held a 'Pre-Visit Day,' but since the construction was not yet completed, defect inspections raised growing concerns about poor construction and safety.
Accordingly, the transition committee visited the site to check the construction progress and listen to the opinions of the prospective residents.
Mayor-elect Kim, Song Changyoung, head of the Safety, Environment, and Transportation Division of the transition committee, Chae Jong, head of the Planning and General Affairs Division, about 20 prospective residents, the construction company, and Seo-gu District Office officials participated together.
Mayor-elect Kim pointed out, "It is difficult to understand logically that uncompleted work and defects are occurring repeatedly with only about a month left before completion."
He added, "Nothing related to citizens' lives should be done by turning a blind eye. We will thoroughly fulfill the administrative role and responsibility regarding uncompleted work and defects from the residents' perspective and decide whether to grant the completion permit."
Song Changyoung, head of the Safety, Environment, and Transportation Division, said, "For the happy and safe lives of Seo-gu residents, the transition committee will scrutinize this issue with eagle eyes and support Seo-gu District Office, the supervisory authority, to fulfill its responsibilities and roles."
The transition committee plans to continue seeking optimal solutions for major local issues through site visits, listening to local residents' opinions, and division-level discussions.
