Changwon City-Changwon National University, Agreement to Operate 'Social Welfare Meal Management Support Center'
[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Lee Seryeong] Changwon City in Gyeongnam Province and Changwon National University Industry-Academic Cooperation Foundation have signed a business agreement on the consignment operation of the Changwon City Social Welfare Meal Management Support Center.
The Social Welfare Meal Management Support Center operates as a project linked between the Ministry of Food and Drug Safety and local governments to support hygiene and nutrition management of meal services for the elderly and disabled, and to improve the health of residents.
It supports menu and nutrition management for small-scale welfare facilities without nutritionists, and clinical nutritionists provide menus and cooking methods tailored to diseases or health conditions.
The center plans to visit sites regularly to support meal service hygiene, safety, and nutrition management.
The center, the first to be operated in Gyeongnam, will be integrated and operated with the Changwon City Children's Meal Management Support Center and will be responsible for the entire Changwon City area.
The Changwon City Children's Meal Management Support Center has supported professional meal management for children's meal services with fewer than 100 children in Masanhappo-gu, Masanhoewon-gu, and Jinhae-gu since its opening in April 2011.
Changwon National University plans to start operating the center from July 1, with Professor Moon Hyekyung of the Department of Food and Nutrition serving as the center director.
Director Moon said, “We will do our best to provide healthy meals to small-scale social welfare facilities and create a safe meal service environment.”
