Selection of 4 Organizations in 3 Fields
[Jeju=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Hwang Jeongpil] Jeju Police Agency (Chief Go Gi-cheol) announced on the 16th that it held the '1st Jeju Community Policing Awards' ceremony at the 4th-floor auditorium of the Seolmundae Women’s Culture Center in Jeju City.
Co-hosted by Jeju Police Agency and JIBS, this event was promoted to discover and reward excellent cases of civilian-police cooperative policing based on voluntary participation and cooperation of community members in local social issues, thereby creating an opportunity to actively engage in community policing.
Outstanding institutions and organizations that contributed in three areas?crime prevention, traffic safety, and protection of socially vulnerable groups?were selected and awarded certificates of appreciation and plaques.
A total of 38 institutions and organizations participated, and to ensure fairness in judging, most of the judges were appointed as external experts such as university professors, researchers, and social welfare organization officials.
Through a two-stage evaluation process consisting of preliminary and final judging, four organizations were ultimately selected.
In the crime prevention category, Jeju City Informatization Support Division was selected; in the traffic safety category, the Green Mothers’ Association; and in the protection of socially vulnerable groups category, Sebang Lee Eui-soon Foundation and Jeju Special Self-Governing Province Police Volunteer Corps were chosen.
Go Gi-cheol, Chief of Jeju Police Agency, said, “We ask for continued interest from residents in community policing so that we can achieve the goal of safe Jeju policing through active participation of local residents.”
