[Asia Economy Reporter Park Jong-il] Roh Hyun-song, Mayor of Gangseo-gu, Seoul, attended the '30th Gaehwasan Battle War Dead Memorial Ceremony' held at Gaehwasan Patriotic Martyrs Park on the 16th in commemoration of the Month of Patriots and Veterans in June, honoring the noble spirits of the patriotic martyrs.
The memorial ceremony was attended by about 100 people, including Yang Seung-chun, Chairman of the Gaehwasan Battle War Dead Memorial Association, bereaved families, heads of veterans' organizations, and officials from the Army's 1st Division. In his memorial address, Mayor Roh said, "Thanks to the sacrifices of the patriotic martyrs, our proud homeland, the Republic of Korea, has established itself as a country where economic revival and freedom and peace blossom together," adding, "We will never forget the noble sacrifices of the patriotic martyrs who laid the foundation for defending our country."
