Prohibition of Vessel Passage and Fishing in Nearby Waters from 2 Hours Before to 10 Minutes After Nuriho Launch
[Yeosu=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Choi Cheol-hoon] The Yeosu Maritime Police Station in Jeonnam announced on the 15th that "Ahead of the second launch of the Korean launch vehicle Nuriho, maritime traffic and fishing near the Naro Space Center will be temporarily prohibited on the day of the launch, along with strengthened security around the Naro Space Center."
According to Yeosu Maritime Police, ahead of the scheduled launch of the Korean launch vehicle Nuriho at around 4 p.m. on the 16th at the Naro Space Center in Goheung, Jeonnam, maritime traffic and fishing near the Naro Space Center in Bongrae-myeon, Goheung-gun, Jeonnam, will be completely prohibited starting two hours before the launch.
The maritime control zone was established to ensure the safety of lives and vessels in case of abnormal flight of the launch vehicle or similar emergencies. It covers the sea area within a 3 km radius from the launch pad at the Naro Space Center and the flight path of Nuriho, spanning 24 km in width and 78 km in length.
Accordingly, a total of 24 vessels, including 17 patrol boats near the Naro Space Center and 7 vessels from related agencies, will be deployed to carry out maritime control and safety management duties.
The Maritime Police are overseeing maritime safety, including vessel control and navigation notifications related to the second launch of Nuriho, as well as the movement of residents on inhabited islands within the control zone. To prepare for emergencies, a total of 288 personnel from five agencies, including the Maritime Police, will be mobilized to manage maritime control and safety.
A Yeosu Maritime Police official stated, "We will strengthen thorough maritime control and safety management to ensure the successful second launch of the Korean launch vehicle Nuriho," and added, "We ask nearby residents and maritime workers to actively cooperate with the maritime control."
