"Grab the 2030 Big Spenders" Shinsegae Department Store Launches Partnership Card for MZ Customers
[Asia Economy Reporter Jeon Jinyoung] Shinsegae Department Store announced on the 15th that it will launch new co-branded cards in partnership with BC Card, targeting the MZ generation (Millennials + Generation Z).
Shinsegae Department Store will release five types of co-branded cards for the affluent 2030 generation on the 16th. These cards offer various benefits such as shopping discounts and OTT service point accumulation tailored to the lifestyle of MZ generation customers, who are emerging as potential VIPs for the department store.
The newly introduced co-branded cards are Shinsegae BC Baro SEVEN FLEX Card, Shinsegae BC Baro Clear Plus Card, Shinsegae BC Baro Quattro Plus Card, Shinsegae BC Baro Reward Plus Card, and Shinsegae BC Baro Asiana Plus Card.
The Shinsegae BC Baro SEVEN FLEX Card offers the highest discount rate among the five co-branded cards. It provides a 7% discount benefit when registered with simple payment methods such as SSG PAY.
The Shinsegae BC Baro Quattro Plus Card is a shopping-specialized card aimed at customers who prioritize offline shopping. It offers up to 30,000 KRW monthly billing discounts at Shinsegae Department Store, duty-free shops, E-Mart, and other Shinsegae offline shopping venues.
The Shinsegae BC Baro Reward Plus Card is the first Shinsegae co-branded card to offer Paybook Money accumulation benefits for OTT payments. It accumulates up to 30% of the payment amount as Paybook Money for OTT services such as YouTube, Netflix, and Genie Music. It also provides accumulation benefits in daily life areas such as kindergartens and academies, making it useful for customers in their mid to late 30s with young children.
The reason for launching these co-branded cards is to target the MZ generation, who are emerging as major spenders in the department store sector. Last year, customers in their 20s and 30s accounted for 41.2% of Shinsegae Department Store’s total sales. The sales growth rate also recorded 32.3% year-on-year, establishing this group as a core customer base.
Lee Seonghwan, Executive Director of Sales Strategy at Shinsegae Department Store, said, “We have launched new co-branded cards with various benefits targeting the lifestyle of our core 2030 customers. Based on Shinsegae Department Store’s shopping experience and BC Card’s partnership benefits, we will lead customers’ lifestyles.”
