Gwangju Seo-gu Hosts 'Gwangju Peace Concert' at Pungam Lake Park
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Shin Dong-ho] Seo-gu, Gwangju Metropolitan City announced on the 14th that it will hold the Gwangju Peace Concert at Pungam Lake Park from the 17th to the 18th.
The Gwangju Peace Concert, prepared to mark the complete end of COVID-19 and the 22nd anniversary of the June 15 North-South Joint Declaration, is a religious music concert involving religious figures from the four major religions: Protestantism, Catholicism, Buddhism, and Won Buddhism.
During this period, not only the concert but also 1,000 Cheongsachorong lanterns containing citizens' wishes and traditional lanterns made of hanji (traditional Korean paper) will be lit, creating a spectacular scene for citizens visiting Pungam Lake at night.
From 2 p.m., various experience programs such as traditional hanji crafts, writing wish notes, exhibitions and experiences offering a glimpse into daily life in North Korea, a promotional hall featuring social economy products, and multicultural performances will be held as diverse side events.
This performance, centered on citizens and themed "Connecting Hearts," conveys messages of harmony and peace among religions, races, and humanity, allowing attendees to feel cultural diversity, which is particularly engaging.
A Seo-gu official said, "We hope this meaningful time of healing the mind and body exhausted by COVID-19 through a concert praying for peace by gathering the hearts of citizens will be realized."
