Gyeonggi-do Imposes 390.3 Billion KRW in Vehicle Tax for the First Half of This Year
[Asia Economy (Suwon) = Reporter Lee Young-gyu] Gyeonggi Province has imposed the first installment of automobile tax for this year amounting to 390.3 billion KRW. This is an increase of 700 million KRW (0.18%) compared to the same period last year (389.6 billion KRW).
Automobile tax is levied on vehicle owners every June and December. The first installment of automobile tax imposed this time is the tax for owning a vehicle from January 1 to June 30 of this year.
The payment period is from the 16th of this month until the 30th. If the automobile tax has already been prepaid in January or March, no additional automobile tax will be imposed.
The province offers a 5% discount on the second installment of automobile tax (July 1 to December 31) if prepaid by the 30th of this month. Those who wish to prepay can apply at the tax office of the city or county where the vehicle is registered or through the Wetax system.
Automobile tax can be paid through all banks and post office ATMs. By applying for electronic billing via the Wetax website, the Wetax mobile app, various financial institution apps, or simple payment apps such as KakaoPay, Payco, and Naver Pay, taxpayers can receive mobile tax bills. In particular, using the local tax revenue account (electronic payment number) within the bill exempts transfer fees.
