Kim Nam-guk to Lee Won-wook, who called for the disbandment of 'Cheoreomhoe': "It's like a thief telling honest citizens to catch a thief"
"A person who formed factions and continued factional politics"
"The party convention must not become a battleground for factional fights"
[Asia Economy Reporter Kwon Hyun-ji] On the 12th, Kim Nam-guk, a member of the Democratic Party of Korea, rebutted the claim by fellow party member Lee Won-wook, who called for the disbandment of the party's hardline freshman group ‘Cheoreomhoe,’ saying, “There is a logical leap, so it is not worth refuting.”
Through Facebook on the same day, Kim said, “We agreed to maintain mutual respect, so I cannot understand how a call to disband ‘Cheoreomhoe’ could arise. It is completely out of place.” He added, “Those who have formed the mainstream and continued factional politics such as ‘lining up’ and ‘clique politics’ might sound really strange if they tell people who have never engaged in factional politics or have been victims of it to disband a faction that doesn’t even exist.”
He further likened Lee to a ‘thief’ and himself to a ‘law-abiding citizen,’ sharpening his criticism by saying, “It’s like a thief telling a law-abiding citizen to catch a thief.” He argued that it is inappropriate for Lee, who has benefited from factional politics until now, to call for the disbandment of factions.
Earlier on the 12th, Lee aggressively targeted Kim, saying, “Who is siding with political hooligans? At this point, so-called pro-Myeong members,” and added, “Why hasn’t Cheoreomhoe been disbanded? I recommend disbandment. The liquidation of factions is the most necessary task for the Democratic Party.”

Kim emphasized, “This party convention should not become a battleground for factional fights or power struggles,” and said, “If calls to ‘disband Cheoreomhoe’ arise, how can there be any discussion or ways to innovate the Democratic Party? All party members must find ways to overcome the crisis with a desperate mindset.”
